3M Flap Disc 747D
We designed the 3M Flap Disc 747D as a ceramic grain abrasive flap disc with a durable, X-weight cotton backing for working with stainless and carbon steels. Designed to run on a right angle grinder, a flap disc is a one-step alternative to bonded wheels and fiber discs. A unique grinding aid minimizes heat while maintaining life on heat sensitive alloys such as stainless steel.
Constructed for rapid stock removal on welds and other similar ferrous based materials, our Standard Abrasives Ceramic Flap Disc features high-performing ceramic mineral that stays cool and reduces discoloration on stainless and high nickel alloys. The overlapping cloth flaps provide extended durability and maintain a sharp cut as the flaps wear away, leaving a smooth finish.

Right Angle Grinding Abrasives: Know Your Options
By using a damaged wheel at 10,000 rpm, everyone in the room becomes susceptible to a potential accident waiting to happen. It should also be noted that grinding wheels require more training than flap and fiber discs. A Type 27 grinding wheel requires a 30-degree angle while Types 28/29 require 0-to-15 degrees.
